Prime Minister Imran Khan on April 18, 2019, reshuffled his cabinet. A couple of days ago the federal minister for Information and Broadcasting Mr. Fawad Chaudhry denied media reports claiming major cabinet reshuffle in a press conference as well as on twitter.
According to sources here is the complete list of cabinet members portfolio changes.
One of the major causality of cabinet reshuffle is Federal Minister for Finance Asad Umar. In a press conference, on April 18 he confirms, his step down from the ministry of finance and adds will no longer be part of the federal cabinet and taking it to the twitter says.
Asad Umar was offered a portfolio of energy instead of finance, however, he declined prime minister Imran Khan’s offer.
Who can/will replace Asad Umar? The question is yet to be answered however, there are few names that surfaced including, Shamshad Akhter (former Governor State Bank of Pakistan), Omar Ayub who is the grandson of former president Ayub Khan and currently holds a portfolio of Ministry for Power, former State Bank of Pakistan governor Ishrat Hussain and Hafeez Pasha an economist.

Who had the portfolio for the ministry of information and broadcasting becomes another causality of a cabinet reshuffle and has been handed over Ministry of Science and Technology. Azam Khan Sawati previously held this portfolio and now appointed as the federal minister for parliamentary affairs.
Shehryar Khan Afridi
Afridi was the Minister of State for Interior, replaced with Ijaz Shah who won a National Assembly seat from Nankana Sahib recently and joined PTI government cabinet as Federal Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. He has been handed over a portfolio of the interior ministry. Shehryar Afridi joins Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON).
Abdul Hafeez Shaikh
Former federal minister for finance and well-known economist appointed as a special assistant to the prime minister on finance. He has expertise in economic policy-making, management, and implementation.
According to sources, following ministers has been removed permanently from federal cabinet.
- Amir Mehmood Kayani who was holding the portfolio for National Health Services, Regulation, and Coordination (Health Ministry).
- Tariq Bashir Cheema was federal minister for Housing and Works (MOHW).
- Ali Amin Khan Gandapur federal minister for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit Baltistan (KANA).
- Petroleum minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan also dismissed over unsatisfactory performance.
Nadeem Babar, Dr. Zafarullah Mirza, and Firdous Ashiq Awan have been appointed special assistants to the prime minister for petroleum division, national health services, and information respectively.
