Ilyasi mosque is one the first picnic point in small city which is usually called the city of chinars, Abbottabad. The mosque is located at Muree road, Nawan Shehr, near (BISE) Board Of Intermediate and Secondary Education Abbottabad and famous for its natural spring-fed indoor pool & a picturesque mountain setting.
Pakoras and fries of Ilyasi mosque are unique in their own kind and are known all over Pakistan for their special taste. Ilyasi masjid has a long history and is one of the oldest mosque in the city, it was constructed in 1932.
It has two pools where you can swim with your friends/family and offer prayer in order to gain inner peace. One pool is inside mosque while the other one is opposite of mosque. It is also believed Ilyasi mosque water has curative properties.
It used to have natural fountain but due to the pressure released on underground tables it has disappeared. We hope to see it again soon. Who knows the miracles of Allah.
There is a hill station on walking distance behind the mosque where you can see whole city under your feet, if you like to capture your memories you better capture your moments on top of the hill. The place is open 24/7 and ideal for families, friends, groups; be it small or large and anybody.
The weather is very pleasant in summer and place becomes overcrowded due to tourist flooding from Punjab, Sindh, Islamabad and rest of the country.
However, the tourist spot is not being maintained that really well, due to Tourism Ministry/Government negligence. It used to look a lot better back in 2010 to 2013. But if you are still interested in seeing nice architecture and natural beauty. It is worth a visit, when you get there do not ever miss pakoras and chatni.
I pray that you have a safe and sound journey.
